Antarctic sea sponges may save the human race from super bugs

The problem with calling super bugs “super” is it makes them sound awesome. In a way they are, because it’s really hard to stop them killing us poor humans. However, the current crop of super bugs may be on their way to losing the super tag thanks to Antarctic sea sponges.
Super bugs is the common way of referring to any microbe that has evolved to be antimicrobial resistant, which means if you are infected with a super bug there’s no single antibiotic that can help cure you, or the treatment is very difficult with only a relatively small chance of succes. It’s a growing problem, thanks in no small part to the misuse and overuse of the antibiotics we use every day.
